Venezeula’s central bank is seeking the help of Elon Musk and Reddit to pump the value of its national currency, the Bolivar. Before Musk’s tweets, Dogecoin was practically worthless with absolutely no use case, much like the Bolivar today. It has since inspired an endless supply of internet memes and a fanbase on Reddit.
According to inside sources, Musk has agreed to tweet about the Bolivar, that Tesla start accepting it as payment, and to spread rumours about how much he owns. He also agreed not to go on Saturday Night Live, which many viewers are also fine with.
“Why increase interest rates if we can just have cute memes instead?”, says Venezuela’s chief economist. “We think Simon and Doge can be best buddies.”
The mafias, who have controlled Venezuela’s monetary supply since 2016, are now considering strategies of their own including an old-fashioned crackdown of the banks and death threats to anyone on Twitter holding the real national currency. “We are concerned that money will be used for legitimate essential purposes instead of cocaine or ransom”, says a cartel representative.
