As the year draws to a close, we reflect on what mattered in 2020.
2020 was a historic year marked by a twisted turn of events, especially for black people. Beloved black basketball legend Kobe Bryant died on January 26, 2020, when his private helicopter crashed. He was known for his highly regarded scoring abilities. His life indeed mattered. It was a truly historic moment according to basketball fans online citing that it was the first time he’s passed in years. Violent Black Lives Matter protests would, in fact, break out across the world afterwards.
Of course, as we all know, Kobe’s untimely death wouldn’t be the only bad news in 2020. His 13 year old daughter, Gianna, was in the helicopter with him.
She too was black.
